Aerospace Machining Expertise

Clarent Precision delivers high-precision CNC milled and turned components for the aerospace and defence industry. From structural airframe parts to engine components and instrumentation housings, our facility in Leighton Buzzard is equipped to handle the exacting tolerances and complex geometries that aerospace applications demand.

What sets us apart from many UK sub-contract machinists is our genuine capability with exotic super alloys. While most shops limit themselves to aluminium and standard steels, we routinely machine Inconel, Titanium, Hastelloy C276, Super Duplex and Nitronic 50. These materials are critical for aerospace applications where extreme temperature resistance, corrosion resistance or strength-to-weight ratios are non-negotiable.

As a family-run business established in 2011, you deal directly with the people running your job. There are no layers of account managers between you and the workshop floor. Our ISO 9001 certification, awarded by NQA, provides the quality framework that aerospace supply chains require.

Materials for Aerospace Applications

We machine the full range of materials used in aerospace and defence components. Our particular strength lies in the super alloys that most sub-contract machinists are not equipped to handle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tolerances can you achieve for aerospace components?

We routinely machine aerospace components to tolerances of +/- 0.01mm. Our CNC machining centres are regularly calibrated and all critical dimensions are verified in our temperature-controlled inspection department using a CMM and precision hand tools. Specific tolerance requirements are discussed at the quotation stage to ensure we can meet your exact specification.

What materials do you machine for aerospace applications?

We machine the full range of aerospace materials including Titanium, Inconel, Hastelloy C276, Super Duplex, Nitronic 50, Aluminium 6082, Stainless Steel 316 and engineering plastics. Our particular strength is in exotic super alloys, which many sub-contract machinists are unable to work with. This capability is a significant advantage for aerospace clients who need a single supplier for both standard and specialist materials.

Do you provide full material traceability?

Yes. Full material traceability is provided as standard for all aerospace and defence work. This includes material certificates, batch numbers and complete documentation from raw stock through to finished component. We also provide Certificates of Conformity, First Article Inspection Reports and CMM reports as required.

What batch sizes do you handle for aerospace work?

We handle everything from single prototype components and first articles through to repeat production batches. Our milling capacity supports runs up to 1,000+ parts and our CNC lathes can handle batches up to 10,000. We also offer a stockholding and call-off service, allowing you to schedule deliveries over time while benefiting from batch pricing.
