Get a QuoteMotorsport Machining Expertise
Clarent Precision produces high-performance CNC machined components for motorsport teams, race car constructors and specialist vehicle builders across the UK. From one-off billet aluminium parts for a race weekend to development batches of performance components, our facility is set up for the speed and precision that motorsport work requires.
Our strength for motorsport clients lies in our ability to handle complex 3D profiling on our 3 and 4 axis machining centres. Combined with full CAD/CAM simulation, we can take your design files and produce finished components with minimal lead time. We interrogate models thoroughly before cutting to ensure every dimension is correct to specification, which is critical when parts need to fit perfectly first time.
As a family-run business established in 2011, there are no layers of bureaucracy between you and the workshop floor. When you need a component turned around quickly for a race deadline, you speak directly to the people running the job. This personal approach, combined with our ISO 9001 certified quality systems, gives motorsport clients the confidence that parts will be right first time, every time.
Materials for Motorsport Applications
Lightweight, high-strength materials are at the core of motorsport engineering. We machine the full range of materials used in performance applications, with particular expertise in billet aluminium and exotic alloys.
For the most demanding motorsport applications, our super alloy capability gives you access to materials such as Inconel for exhaust components and Hastelloy for extreme heat environments. This is a capability that most sub-contract machinists simply do not offer.
CNC Machining Capabilities
Our facility is equipped with high-performance CNC machining centres and lathes designed for the precision and flexibility that motorsport work demands.
- CNC Milling: 3 and 4 axis machining up to 762mm x 406mm x 508mm. Complex 3D profiling for billet components, brackets, housings and structural parts.
- CNC Turning: Live tooling lathes for complete mill-turn operations. Spindle work, shafts, spacers and performance fasteners. Capacity up to Ø279mm x 413mm.
- One-Offs and Small Batches: Our setup is optimised for short runs and one-off components. No minimum order quantity.
- CAD/CAM Simulation: We work directly from your 3D CAD files (STEP, IGES, Parasolid). Full simulation before cutting ensures accuracy and reduces lead time.
- Post-Production: Anodising (including hard anodising), heat treatment, plating and specialist surface finishes through our approved sub-contractor network.
Quality & Documentation
Motorsport components need to perform under extreme conditions. Our ISO 9001 certified quality management system ensures that every part we produce meets the exacting standards that performance applications require.
- Inspection: Temperature-controlled inspection department with CMM, micrometers, bore gauges and height gauges.
- Certificates of Conformity: Provided as standard with every order.
- First Article Inspection Reports: Detailed FAIR documentation for new components.
- Material Traceability: Full material certification and traceability from stock to finished part.
- CMM Reports: Dimensional inspection reports available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you produce one-off components?
Yes. One-off and short-run work is one of our core strengths. We have no minimum order quantity and our setup is optimised for efficient production of single pieces and small batches. Many of our motorsport clients come to us with a single component requirement for a specific race application, and we can turn these around quickly without the overhead costs that larger facilities would impose.
How quickly can you turn around urgent motorsport parts?
We understand that motorsport works to tight deadlines. For standard materials and straightforward geometries, we can often produce components within days. Turnaround depends on complexity, material availability and current workshop load, but we always aim to accommodate urgent requests. Because you deal directly with the workshop, there is no delay in communicating priorities. Call us on 01525 372 271 to discuss your timeline.
What lightweight materials do you machine?
Aluminium 6082 is the most common material for lightweight motorsport components, and we machine it extensively. For applications demanding the highest strength-to-weight ratios, we also machine Titanium. Our 3 and 4 axis milling centres can produce complex pocket designs and weight-saving features from solid billet, achieving the maximum material removal that lightweight motorsport parts require.
Can you work directly from CAD files?
Yes. We accept STEP, IGES and Parasolid file formats and can import them directly into our CAD/CAM software. We interrogate the model to verify all dimensions and identify any manufacturing considerations before programming. If you have a 2D drawing alongside the 3D model, this is helpful for specifying tolerances and surface finish requirements, but we can work from 3D models alone if that is all that is available.
